Country singer Garth Brooks has confirmed that his bar in Nashville, Tennessee, will sell every brand of beer, including Bud Light.
Brooks appeared for a panel on Billboard Country Live Wednesday, where he provided an update on his business, Friends In Low Places Bar & Honky Tonk. It is not yet open, but will be located in the city’s South Broadway district.

“I want it to be a place you feel safe in; I want it to be a place where you feel like there are manners and people like one another,” Brooks said. “And yes, we’re going to serve every brand of beer. We just are. It’s not our decision to make. Our thing is this, if you [are let] into this house, love one another. If you’re an ***hole, there are plenty of other places on lower Broadway.”
This comes amid a tumble in Bud Light’s United States retail beginning May 8, dropping by 28% compared with the same period in 2022, according to a report citing an analysis of Nielsen data by consulting company Bump Williams. Bud Light fell 23.6% for the week ending on May 6 compared to the same week last year.
Bud Light came under controversy when Anheuser-Busch sent one personalized Bud Light can to transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney, who subsequently made two social media posts featuring the product. Boycotts were incited within the company’s customer base. The senior marketing officials involved were subsequently placed on leave which resulted in the company cutting ties with a third-party advertising agency.
“I’m sure glad we have Garth Brooks to tell us who is and isn’t an ***hole,” Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) tweeted Saturday in response to the country star’s comments. “Question, tho: Does it make someone an ***hole if they cheat on their spouse, write a song about it with their paramour, and then publish the duet with THAT VERY paramour? Or does that make for a good person, righteous in their moral preening?”

Gaetz was referring to Brook’s song with Trisha Yearwood, “In Another’s Eyes.” The country singer was previously married to Sandy Mahl from 1986 to 2001.
Brooks has won 13 Country Music Awards for his albums, events, and as entertainer of the year since 1990.
