Participants of a guaranteed income program in Los Angeles County will receive their next payment of $1,000 on Thursday.
The program, titled Breathe, issues payments to 1,000 participants every month, with recipients getting these monthly payments for approximately three years. Recipients receive these payments on the 15th of each month, meaning the next payment will be issued on Thursday, Los Angeles County’s Strength Based Community Change agency told the Washington Examiner.

Applications for this program opened on March 31, 2022, and closed on April 13, 2022. Payments started being disbursed in June 2022 and will conclude in August 2025.
The program was launched by Los Angeles County with the intent to allow its residents to “breathe” easier, knowing they are more financially secure. The 1,000 recipients were randomly selected from a pool of eligible applicants.
Recipients in this program do not need to have a bank account to receive these monthly payments because these payments are distributed through debit cards.
