Billy Joel’s classic song “We Didn’t Start the Fire” is finally getting an update.

The 1989 release was Joel’s third song to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart and was nominated for a Grammy Award that year.

However, the new version is not from the “Piano Man.” It’s by pop-punk band Fall Out Boy.

Joel’s musical look back at history covered the years 1949 through 1989. This cover goes from the 1990s through the modern day, with a hard-rock take on the original melody.

Unlike the original, the historic events mentioned are not in chronological order.

“Captain Planet, Arab Spring, LA riots, Rodney King, deep fakes, earthquakes,” the song begins.

Fall Out Boy’s version, released Wednesday, makes mention of everything from Y2K to former President Donald Trump‘s indictment and QAnon, but it makes no mention of President Joe Biden.

Other pop culture references include former President Barack Obama, North Korea leader Kim Jong Un, and YouTube “killing MTV.”

The band is on the road with its So Much For (Tour) Dust, visiting cities throughout the United States this summer before heading to Europe in the fall.
