The View hosts discussed what they claimed is the fall of Fox News being the result of its coverage of Donald Trump.
Their segment began with musings of Fox New’s parent company News Corporation CEO Rupert Murdoch, allegedly looking for another candidate besides Trump to support in its coverage. However, host Joy Behar suggested the company could not change course, as it was already guilty of “following him over a cliff.”

“They can’t call it Fox News. It is not a legitimate news network,” Sunny Hostin piped in. “Fox entertainment television, I mean.”
Fellow host Whoopi Goldberg reminded Hostin that a Fox Entertainment network already exists.
Later, Behar confronted Alyssa Farah Griffin, who had appeared on Fox several times, most notably on Jan. 7, 2021. Farah Griffin is also the token Republican among the hosts.
“Wouldn’t you say, as a Republican, Trump has completely destroyed the Republican Party with the help of Murdoch?” Behar asked, to which Farah Griffin agreed.
“I think those who empowered him in the media played a big role in it,” Farah Griffin said.

Fox News has recently engaged in a shake-up of its cast, firing Tucker Carlson in April and removing Geraldo Rivera from The Five earlier this month, which ultimately led to his resignation.
The network even briefly lost its No. 1 spot in the ratings in June to MSNBC. It was the first time Fox had been bested in 120 weeks. Even the week that it wasn’t at the top, Fox News increased by 10.9% more viewers. According to Nielsen ratings, that very next week, Fox News increased in viewership for the 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. hours, while MSNBC, the No. 1 prime-time slot the previous week, lost viewers and its No. 1 spot.
