A new political action committee slammed former President Donald Trump in a new advertisement on Friday for his recent attacks against Gov. Kim Reynolds (R-IA).
The ad, which will air in Iowa next week but was released on Twitter on Friday, showed clips of Trump’s recent Truth Social posts that blast the conservative governor. Trump’s posts included claims that he got her elected in 2018.

“Donald Trump is attacking Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds on social media, cutting her out of campaign events, and taking credit for her success,” the Republican Accountability PAC tweeted alongside the 30-second ad. “All because she hasn’t endorsed him. Just more evidence that Donald Trump only cares about himself.”

A voice-over in the ad highlighted Reynolds’s popularity in the state and her legislative successes, including changes to the state’s tax code and school choice advocacy. A poll in March showed the state leader enjoyed an 86% approval rating among Iowa Republicans.
The new conservative PAC was created to hold accountability to Republicans who allegedly tried to overturn the results of the 2020 election, which saw President Joe Biden defeat Trump.
“Not every Iowa Republican voter is on Truth Social,” Gunner Ramer, the group’s political director, told the Des Moines Register. “We thought we needed to elevate this attack and hit Trump on attacking a governor that people in Iowa like.”
Reynolds has not endorsed any candidate ahead of the Iowa caucuses, but she has appeared at campaign stops in the state for most of the 2024 Republican hopefuls.

The other Republican candidates have rallied around Reynolds in the wake of Trump’s attacks. Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley called the governor “a conservative rockstar who has delivered for the people of her state. Like I always say, Iowa grows strong women.”
Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), who is considered Trump’s biggest rival for the nomination, described Reynolds as a “strong leader who knows how to ignore the chirping and get it done.”
