The day people receive their benefits is determined by the last two digits of a recipient’s case number. The release dates are in sets of five numbers every day during the distribution period. Those who have case numbers ending in 00 through 04 receive their benefits on the fourth, and that pattern continues until those with case numbers 95-99 receive their benefits on the 23rd.

Food stamps can be used to purchase eligible items, including most foods from grocery stores, seeds, and plants that produce food. Benefits from SNAP cannot be used for nonfood items, hot or prepared foods, or some other items.

The amount a beneficiary receives depends on a person’s income and household size. For a household of one person, the maximum benefit is $281, while a household of five could see a maximum monthly benefit of $1,116.
