The Portland Police Bureau has deemed the Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center “safe” but remains on lockdown due to an active shooter event on Saturday afternoon. Initial information from authorities stated that the shooting suspect has left the hospital, and officers are searching for the gunman.
A news release from police states The Special Emergency Reaction Team and Crisis Negotiation Team responded to the incident at the hospital, located in northwest Portland, Oregon.

Legacy Health confirmed the shooter event following police reports, and urged people to avoid the area in a post to social media.

Portland Fire Bureau also stated in a tweet that fire crews were on scene and assisting in the emergency room.
Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler said he’s receiving updates from the authorities and will continue to provide information about the active investigation.

Bus services were disrupted and TriMet issued an alert clarifying there would be no bus service due to the police activity from Northwest 23rd Avenue and Raleigh and Thurman streets to West Burnside Street and Southwest 19th and 20th avenues.
Line No. 77 was initially paused, but began operating again by 1:30 p.m. PDT.
