Donald Trump took to Truth Social Saturday to respond to former Gov. Asa Hutchinson’s comment regarding his indictments.

Hutchinson appeared in Iowa for the 2023 Lincoln Dinner Friday, where Trump also spoke. The former governor directed his comments to those who “will be voting in Iowa while multiple criminal cases are pending against former President Trump” with a reminder that the Republican party is one “of individual responsibility, accountability and support for the rule of law. We must not abandon that.”

“Don’t weak people like ‘Aida’ Hutchinson . . . know or understand that the Prosecution of Donald Trump is an Election Interference Hoax, just like Russia, Russia, Russia, or the Fake Dossier, and that he is playing right into Marxists hands, when I am leading the R’s by 50 Points and leading Biden BIG!” Trump wrote.

Trump continued to suggest that Hutchinson is related to Cassidy Hutchinson, his former Chief of Staff Mark Meadow’s staffer who testified to the Jan. 6 commission. The former governor has previously confirmed that he is not related to her.

Hutchinson was one of two of the only candidates who mentioned Trump by name on Friday night, where his comments on Trump ultimately went over time and were cut off by music. All thirteen GOP candidates were in attendance.

This post from the former president comes just before his campaign rally in Pennsylvania following a week of continuous updates to his various legal cases. The Department of Justice issued new federal charges on Thursday in a case alleging Trump mishandled classified documents, adding charges regarding his alleged destruction of security footage.

A majority of Republicans believe Trump is the strongest GOP candidate to compete against President Joe Biden in the 2024 election, according to the latest Monmouth University poll.
