Rep. Mike Turner (R-OH) says he believes China is a bigger threat to the United States than aliens, but noted that the Biden administration acts like both are “the same risk.”
Turner’s statement comes after David Grusch, a former United States Air Force intelligence officer, testified in front of Congress about the possibility that the government knows more about unidentified anomalous phenomena, or UAPs, than previously reported. Turner also discussed the cybersecurity risks the U.S. faces in regard to China during an appearance on Fox News’s Sunday Morning Futures.

Host Maria Bartiromo asked Turner what he thought was the bigger threat between China trying to surveil the U.S. or aliens on earth.
“China, but, you know, this administration kind of acts like they’re the same risks,” Turner said. “It’s definitely China.”
The concerns about China come as the country has emerged as a major country on the world stage. On Thursday, a Pew Research Center survey found that 50% of respondents named China the greatest economic and security threat to the U.S., while just 17% said Russia remains the biggest threat. The survey was conducted from May 30 to June 4 among 10,329 U.S. voters.
Following Grusch’s testimony in Congress, a group of House lawmakers sent a letter to Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) on Friday, asking the House leader to establish a select committee tasked with investigating those sightings, as well as whether the Pentagon is intentionally withholding information related to UAP. The request specifically presses McCarthy to establish a committee with subpoena authority that will allow lawmakers to collect information from the Pentagon that has previously been blocked by military officials.

Ahead of the UFO hearing, Republican 2024 presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy joined members of the public who want the government to share information on what it knows about UFOs. Ramaswamy stated that the public can “handle the truth.”
Last month, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) claimed there are other people who have “come forward” with information on UFOs to Rubio’s committee, and that he would imagine that some of these people are “potentially some of the same people” that Grusch is referring to.
