Kirk Cameron is looking forward to his nationwide “See You at the Library” event later this week, saying, “It’s very exciting” despite opposition from the American Library Association.

For the past eight months, Cameron has been on a nationwide story hour tour with publisher Brave Books, making stops at libraries to read his faith-based children’s books, As You Grow and Pride Comes Before the Fall, and encouraging parents who desire to reclaim cultural impact and resist “woke” influences on their children.

On Saturday, 268 libraries across 45 states will participate in Cameron’s See You at the Library event.

“It should be an amazing day. The battle is here and we’re confident that good is going to triumph over evil,” Cameron told the Washington Examiner. “Parents are excited. … We’re told the public libraries are expecting thousands in attendance, and that will equal tens of thousands nationwide.”

In June, Children’s faith-based book publisher Brave Books obtained a recording of an ALA presentation and indicated that the organization’s Deborah Caldwell-Stone was seeking to “exploit loopholes to block Brave Books story hours.”

“The American Library Association still doesn’t want this to happen,” Cameron told the Washington Examiner. “They’re hoping it’s a great big ‘nothing-burger’ and it’s a big fat dud, but the opposite is true. Thousands of families are gathering in the public square to contend with the values that will lead to their children’s blessing.”

Brave Books CEO Trent Talbot also told the Washington Examiner that he is happy to see educators, celebrities, athletes, and politicians supporting the event.

“See You at the Library allows Christian conservative families to actively create the culture in their community and shows them they do not have to sit back and concede public spaces that shape our children like libraries and schools to the godless Left,” Talbot said.

Pinal County, Arizona, Sheriff Mark Lamb, podcaster and author David Harris Jr., women’s sports advocate Riley Gaines, and former mobster Michael Franzese are expected to make appearances at some of the library gatherings. Cameron will also be traveling to three states to make surprise library appearances.

Cameron said he hopes to continue to grow the movement of families reclaiming traditional values and biblical morals.

“I want to start new fires,” Cameron said. “I want to continue to grow the movement — not just of reading books in libraries, but parents and grandparents taking back the leadership role in the country morally, and spiritually, and economically. I want them to fight for the hearts and minds of their children and protect their grandchildren’s future.”

As part of that mission, Cameron said he is currently working on a third children’s book that will focus on how one can show love to those who disagree with them or might consider them an enemy.
