Former Vice President Mike Pence squabbled with a group of Trump supporters as he arrived at a campaign event on Friday evening as the protesters hammered the Republican presidential candidate over his refusal to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

As Pence arrived in New Hampshire for a town hall event, a group of about a dozen Trump supporters yelled out at the former vice president, calling him a “sellout” and “traitor.” The small protest came just one day after Donald Trump pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from his efforts to overturn the 2020 election, which included the former president urging his No. 2 to invalidate his loss.

TRUMP’S TRIFECTA: THREE THINGS FORMER PRESIDENT IS COUNTING ON TO AVOID HISTORIC CRIMINAL CONVICTIONS

“Why didn’t you uphold the constitution?” the protesters yelled at Pence.

“I upheld the constitution,” he shot back. “Read it!”

The exchange comes after Trump was indicted by a grand jury earlier this week on four separate federal charges: One count of conspiracy to defraud the United States; one count of conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding; one count of obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding; and one count of conspiracy against rights.

The 45-page indictment details the former president’s efforts to undo his loss to President Joe Biden, including conversations with Pence urging him not to certify the election results. When Pence refused, Trump told the former vice president he was “too honest,” according to the indictment.

Shortly after the indictment was unsealed on Tuesday, Pence released a scathing statement criticizing Trump for his actions — noting, “Anyone who puts himself over the Constitution should never be President of the United States.”

“The former president is entitled to the presumption of innocence, but with this indictment, his candidacy means more talk about January 6th and more distractions,” he said.

Trump has pleaded not guilty to all charges. He is set to return to court on Aug. 28 for a hearing, during which a trial date will be scheduled.
