Kentucky residents who receive payments from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program can collect up to $1,691 in food stamps over the next seven days before the program wraps up for August.

Kentucky residents who receive payments from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program can collect up to $1,691 in food stamps over the next seven days before the program wraps up for August.

Payments are sent out in the Bluegrass State beginning on Aug. 1 and ending on Aug. 19. Eligible households can expect to receive their SNAP benefits on the same day each month, with the exact date varying based on the last digit of their case numbers.

The maximum payment is $281 for a household of one, $939 for a household of four, and $1,691 for a household of eight. An additional $211 is added to a household’s food stamps for each member after eight.

Around 541,600 residents, or 12% of Kentucky’s population, receive food stamps. The average payment per household member per month is $192.

SNAP benefits are loaded onto an electronic benefit card each month to be used at participating locations, such as grocery stores and farmers markets. Payments should be used for groceries and fresh produce.

Food stamps will not be accepted for households attempting to purchase alcohol, tobacco products, vitamins, live animals, prepared foods, or nonfood household items.
