MSNBC anchor Jen Psaki admitted she was “alarmed” to see the results of a poll that captured the pulse of patriotism in the nation.
The former White House Press Secretary under President Joe Biden discussed a New York Times/Sienna poll during her show Inside with Jen Psaki Sunday, which found that 65% of registered voters thought the country was moving in the wrong direction.
Out of those who answered that way, 37% reported that they believe “our problems are so bad that America is in danger of failing as a nation.”

“Today we’re going to change things up a littel bit,” Psaki began the show. “In part because I was pretty alarmed when I saw a recent poll that 37% of voters think we’re failing as a nation. Failing.”
Psaki went on to make an argument that Americans ought to “be a little hopeful” about 250 bipartisan bills being passed this year. She pointed to an ad for civility featuring Govs. Jared Polis (D-CO) and Spencer Cox (R-UT) about “how to disagree better.”
“Former President Donald Trump is under an avalanche of legal trouble. Remember those cases are not just about the criminal conduct of one man. They are about the future of our democracy and our very way of life. The stakes for this country could not be higher,” Psaki said, later adding: “One chunk of the country thinks that, with good reason by the way, the leader of the opposition is a criminal.”
A Reuters/Ipsos poll from earlier this month revealed that 45% of Republicans nationwide reported they would not vote for Trump if he was “convicted of a felony crime by a jury.” Another 35% indicated that they would vote for him regardless. Those remaining didn’t know.
