President Joe Biden is going to tune in to the opening 2024 Republican primary debate.

“I’m going to try to see — get as much as I can, yes,” Biden told reporters Wednesday in Lake Tahoe, California.

Biden also downplayed his expectations for the eight Republican candidates anticipated to take part in the two-hour Fox News-hosted debate without the race’s front-runner, former President Donald Trump.

“I have none,” he said with a laugh.

Biden made the comments as he departed PeloDog after taking a pilates and spinning class on the Californian side of Lake Tahoe. He, first lady Jill Biden, and their extended family, including son Hunter, have been staying in Democratic donor and climate activist Tom Steyer’s house on the Nevada side.

White House deputy press secretary Olivia Dalton told reporters en route to Maui, Hawaii, where Biden surveyed the island’s wildfire damage, that she did not know the president’s schedule Wednesday night.

“I sure hope not,” she said Monday, “for his sake.”

Meanwhile, Biden’s campaign has teamed up with the Democratic National Committee to undermine the participating Republicans.

Campaign Co-Chairman Cedric Richmond told reporters Democrats had the same message regarding the candidates, regardless of Trump not debating in Milwaukee.

“Whether he’s on a stage or not, his extreme agenda will be, and the only thing that will be missing is the chaos and disruption, the bullying, the name calling of former President Trump,” Richmond said Tuesday. “We will continue to highlight differences and what we want to do for the American people because again, this is about the American people.”
