Actor Jamie Foxx has been cast in the role of God in the upcoming film Not Another Church Movie.
Foxx, 55, will be portraying the opposite of Mickey Rourke, who has been cast as the devil in the film. The cast also includes Vivica A. Fox and Lamorne Morris. Its plot is that Foxx, playing God, sends the main character on a mission to tell and record his family’s stories while he is unknowingly tempted by Rourke.

All the writers and actors wrapped up their involvement before the Writers Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild American Federation of Television and Radio Artists began their respective strikes. This movie is set to be released in the fourth quarter of this year.
Not Another Church Movie would be Foxx’s fourth film released this year. His 2023 filmography includes They Cloned Tyrone, God Is a Bullet, and Strays.

The actor was working on the Netflix movie Back in Action in April when his family reported he experienced a “medical complication.” Foxx has since revived his online presence and thanked his fans for their support without giving details about his condition.
Foxx will now join the ranks of other actors who have played God, such as Morgan Freeman in Bruce Almighty, George Burns in Oh, God!, Steve Buscemi in Miracle Workers, and Whoopi Goldberg in both It’s a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie and A Little Bit of Heaven.
