President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are slated to meet with Martin Luther King Jr.'s family and organizers of the March on Washington on Monday.


President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are slated to meet with Martin Luther King Jr.’s family and organizers of the March on Washington on Monday.

Biden and Harris will meet with King’s relatives to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the march, according to the Associated Press.

The White House said all of King’s children have been invited to the meeting, according to the Associated Press.

There were 250,000 people gathered in the name of the civil rights movement 60 years ago to listen to King deliver what would become his infamous “I Have a Dream” speech.

The various events to celebrate the anniversary will begin at the Lincoln Memorial at 8 a.m. After, a march from the memorial to the White House will take place.

As a result of the march, the following streets will be closed from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Ohio Drive, SW, from Inlet Bridge to Independence Avenue, SW; West Basin Drive, SW; 23rd Street north of Independence Avenue, SW; Daniel French Drive, SW; and Henry Bacon Drive, SW.
