Republican presidential candidate and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) announced a new policy platform for his campaign Monday that he says will empower parents to take control of their child’s education.
Scott’s “Empower Parents Plan” outlines three general areas of focus: defending children, empowering parents, and protecting children from Big Tech. The candidate intends to tout the new policy plan on the campaign trail in South Carolina and in Iowa this week.

“Teachers’ unions, Big Tech, and Joe Biden are on a mission to make parents less important,” Scott said in a statement. “I have a bold agenda to support and empower parents — from the classroom to the locker room to the smartphone. We must empower parents and give them a choice, so that every child has a chance.”
The policy proposal says a President Tim Scott would “restore American childhood and let girls and boys be girls and boys, not guinea pigs,” ban biological boys who identify as girls from competing in women’s sports, and ensure the Department of Justice prosecutes act of vandalism and threats against crisis pregnancy centers.
The candidate also vowed to enact universal school choice, expand parental ability to opt out of lessons that violate their religious beliefs, ensure curriculum transparency, and “end the attacks on excellence by rejecting the false notions of ‘equity’ and the Left’s attacks on honors classes.”
Scott also promised to “break the back of the teachers’ unions,” a line he used during last week’s Republican candidate debate.

Since entering the race for the Republican nomination for president in May, Scott has struggled to distinguish himself in a field of candidates all playing catch-up to former President Donald Trump, who maintains a gargantuan polling advantage among Republican primary voters.
The RealClearPolitics polling average currently places Scott at 2.7%, behind other contenders such as Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, former Vice President Mike Pence, and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley. All the candidates significantly trail Trump, whose polling average is 53%.
