President Joe Biden wandered seemingly confused at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Saturday.
The president was at the Arlington National Cemetery to commemmorate Veterans’ Day and lay a wreath at the tomb that overlooks the entire cemetery, which is an annual tradition.

After Biden laid the wreath on its easel, he gave the sign of the Cross, just as he did on Memorial day. Biden is seen standing with his hands crossed in front of him, seemingly exchanging some words with the honor guard soldier standing beside the wreath before he turned around and began walking away. Biden turned back around again to the solider who directed him to stand back at the side of Vice President Kamala Harris where he was previously.
The president went on to give a speech to those present, who included Veterans Affairs Secretary Denis McDonough, Maj. Gen. Trevor Bredenkamp, Gold Star Families, and other military members. Biden took the opportunity to announce that those veterans who had been exposed to toxins are eligible for health care benefits via Veterans Affairs beginning in March.

“The past year we’ve delivered more benefits, processed more claims than ever before in VA history,” Biden said. “We expanded resources to end veteran’s homelessness, end veterans’ poverty, end the silence scourge of suicide, which is taking more veterans than war is. We’re launching a new initiative to protect veterans from scams because no one should be defrauded by those they defended, for God’s sake.”
A soldier is constantly on guard at the Tomb of the Unknown soldier during the cemetery’s operating hours. The monument is over 100 years old with the remains of one unidentified soldier from World War I inside the tomb, meant to represent all those US soldiers who have died and continue to die and aren’t able to be identified.
