NEWSOM’S GLOBE-TROTTING ‘SHADOW CAMPAIGN’ FACES RIDICULE: ‘WAITING IN THE WINGS’

Biden has seen a slew of low poll numbers with only months until the presidential primaries and caucuses. However, Biden has not indicated he will drop his bid to be the Democratic nominee, and Newsom has strongly denied he will jump in the race.

Newsom has been cast as Biden’s attack dog, defending the president’s reelection run and politics against top GOP leaders while being accused of running a shadow presidential campaign himself.

Several problems are mounting in Biden’s reelection efforts, including concerns that he is too old for a second term, an unfavorable economic plan, and troubles at the border amid an influx of immigrants into resource-deprived cities.

Trump is another major threat to the president, as the Republican favorite is faring well among voter groups that are key in keeping Biden in the White House next year.

The survey found Trump leading Biden in the Electoral College, 292 to 246. The former president is on track to take back key swing states, such as Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, which he won in 2016 before Biden flipped them blue in 2020.

While Trump has a hold over the president, Newsom, and Harris, Biden would receive more Electoral College votes than Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) in a hypothetical matchup, 359 to 179. DeSantis, once viewed as a pressing threat to Trump, has seen his presidential campaign drop significantly in recent weeks.

The poll from Stack Data Strategy, a research and strategy firm, was conducted from Oct. 13 to Nov. 3 with 15,205 respondents.
