Billionaire Elon Musk visited Israel to see the location of Hamas’s attack on the country, which he described as “jarring.”
Musk described his thoughts on the site during a discussion with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which was aired live on X, formerly Twitter, which Musk purchased last year. Musk, who was briefed on the attack at Kfar Aza, visited Israel amid some controversy X is facing, including a response he gave to a post that was critical of Jewish communities.

“It was jarring to see the scene of the massacre,” Musk said in the X Spaces conversation.
Musk also visited the Libstein family residence and heard the story of how Ofir Libstein was killed during an exchange of fire during the Oct. 7 attack. Musk was also informed that 4-year-old Abigail Edan, a dual citizen of Israel and the United States, was released from Hamas captivity on Sunday. Edan is the first American hostage to be released from the terror group since the parties agreed to a temporary ceasefire that commenced on Friday.
Israel has made destroying Hamas a priority since the attack last month, which killed 1,200 people, including 35 U.S. citizens. Earlier this month, Netanyahu warned that Europe and the U.S. are “next” if Israel fails to defeat Hamas.

Last week, Musk announced that revenue generated on X in relation to the war in Gaza would be donated to hospitals in Israel, along with the Red Cross and Red Crescent in Gaza. The billionaire said X would track how funds are spent to ensure both the Red Cross and Red Crescent receive them.
The move by Musk to donate money to hospitals involved in the Israel and Hamas conflict came after several major companies, including Apple and Disney, announced that they would be boycotting X due to fears that their ads would be displayed next to far-right messages.
