Twitter suspended former psychology professor and author Jordan Peterson over his tweet that mentioned actor Elliot Page’s mastectomy.
Peterson, who is known for his controversial takes on Twitter, last tweeted Tuesday. The now-removed tweet, which came on June 22, surrounded Page’s mastectomy in light of his transition to become a transgender man.
“Remember when pride was a sin?” Peterson tweeted. “And Ellen Page just had her breasts removed by a criminal physician.”
‘NOT BEAUTIFUL EITHER’: PETERSON NOT IMPRESSED WITH TRANSGENDER NFL CHEERLEADER
Twitter claimed Peterson violated its rules on hateful content. The rule reads: “You may not promote violence against, threaten, or harass other people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or serious disease.”
Peterson’s daughter Mikhaila brought attention to her father’s suspension by tagging soon-to-be Twitter owner Elon Musk.
“Wow. [Jordan Peterson] got a twitter strike. No more twitter until he deletes the tweet,” Mikhaila wrote. “Definitely not a free speech platform at the moment.”

Peterson recently took a break from Twitter after meeting backlash when he tweeted that a plus-size Sports Illustrated model was not beautiful. The author returned after a brief period to comment on a transgender NFL cheerleader.
