Eligible users of the streaming service Crunchyroll have 11 days left to file a claim in a $16 million settlement with the streaming service over alleged privacy violations.
The company has been accused by users of disclosing their personally identifiable information to third parties without their consent. Crunchyroll has denied it violated the law but agreed to the settlement to avoid further litigation on the matter. The deadline to file a claim in this settlement is Dec. 12.

The amount each affected user will receive from the settlement is expected to be roughly $30, but it may be more or less than that estimate, per documents filed with the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. The final amount will be announced once the settlement receives final approval.
To qualify for this settlement, a person must have been a registered user or viewed a website, app, or service owned, operated, or controlled by Crunchyroll from Sept. 8, 2020, through Sept. 20, 2023.

Eligible users of the service must submit a claim online or through the mail in an envelope postmarked by Dec. 12 to qualify for a check from the settlement.
The final approval hearing for the settlement, in which subscribers will be able to speak about the proposed settlement, has been scheduled by the court for Dec. 19.
