Around 100 Santas in Venice, Italy, traded the traditional Christmas sleigh for a gondola.

People dressed up as Santa Claus took part in the city’s 11th Santa Claus Valesana Regatta held along the Grand Canal on Sunday.

As they rowed into the lagoon city to participate in the water parade, several wore white beards with the traditional Santa suit. Some also wore elf costumes.

The regatta was part of a Christmas festival that reportedly also featured markets with handcrafted creations, workshops, and magic shows.

“Venice and its islands will light up with festivity and joy, offering a calendar full of events to celebrate Christmas in a unique and enchanting atmosphere,” the Venice Insider Guide wrote.

Several Santas also took part in the festival’s Santa Claus Race, running a 4.3-mile course.

In addition to the races and shows, several musical artists and choirs also performed.
