Pro-Palestinian protesters assembled a car caravan on Monday in a bid to disrupt the operations of John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City.

Protesters could be seen driving on roads leading in the direction of the airport and waving Palestinian flags. The New York Police Department warned travelers earlier in the day to allow extra time to get to JFK Airport due to planned protests.

HOW THE SUPREME COURT COULD DECIDE THE FATE OF TRUMP’S 2024 BALLOT ACCESS

“If anyone is flying out of JFK Airport today, please plan to travel to the airport ahead of time. There are planned protests today and will cause delays. We don’t want anyone to miss their flights! Safe travels and Happy New Year,” NYPD Chief of Transportation Philip Rivera said in a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

The Pro-Palestinian group Within Our Lifetime, which organized the “flood JFK for Gaza” protest, claimed “victory” Monday afternoon. The group said that entrances to the airport had been closed to people without a flight ticket and claimed that protesters in terminal four were removed by law enforcement.

The group then called on its followers to move the car caravan to LaGuardia Airport in a bid to “shut it down.” Shortly after the post, LaGuardia Airport warned travelers on X to allow extra time to get to the airport due to “police activity” on the Grand Central Parkway.

New York City Republican Councilwoman Inna Vernikov claimed on X that roughly 100 protesters were diverted away from JFK Airport by Port Authority police. She said those who went to LaGuardia Airport appeared “to have no success in entering” and were “just driving around” the Grand Central Parkway. She also mocked the protesters for declaring “victory” with their disruptions.

“The Hamasnicks declared victory. Victory over what? Disrupting lives of New Yorkers who are now even more annoyed? They were shut down by PAPD and prevented from entering JFK. They were blocked from entering LGA. Now they’re on their way to a non-existent [EL AL Airlines] office. Today was definitely a victory in helping them ‘Free Palestine.’ Big WIN here. HUGE!” she posted.
