Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) mocked Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) after the Democratic lawmaker blamed “right-wing organizations” for an investigation being conducted over her use of government funds.

Bush confirmed on Tuesday that she was being investigated by the Biden Justice Department and denied the allegations. She blamed “right-wing organizations” who she claimed have issued “baseless complaints” against her and were “peddling notions” of her misusing her campaign funds.

Her statements were quickly challenged on social media.

“She made a statement and blamed ‘right wing organizations,’” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) wrote on X. “The DOJ is clearly not a right wing organization nor does it listen to any.”

All House Representatives are allocated $25,000 to pay for personal security outside of the U.S. Capitol. Bush, a member of “The Squad,” has made a reputation for spending thousands on personal security through her campaign committee, so much so that it is her biggest campaign expense.

Beyond this, Bush has also come under scrutiny for some of her security payments after facing an ethics complaint last year, which alleged that she made campaign payments to her now-husband for security services during the 2022 midterm cycle.

Greene is not the only House Republican to criticize Bush’s investigation, as Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) stated that the Missouri Democrat had spent campaign funds “for her own personal militia,” while joking that she carries her own gun instead of grifting “to buy a cop.”
