A teacher in Washington, D.C., was one of the most recent victims of car theft in the nation’s capitol as her car was stolen from her school’s parking lot.
Margaret McLawhorn, who teaches at H.D. Woodson High School in Northeast D.C., had her white Porsche Macan stolen out of the school’s parking lot Tuesday. She believes her car keys were taken from her purse during class.
A witness said she was sitting in her car in the lot when she saw a male dodge between cars before getting into McLawhorn’s Porsche and driving away. It’s not known whether or not it was a student who stole the car.
McLawhorn claimed her car keys were most likely taken when she put her purse down and moved to the back of the classroom to teach the rest of the day.
The keys were stolen, along with the car, between 11:55 a.m. and 12:57 p.m., according to police records. Police responded to the scene at around 1:30 p.m. for a report of vehicle theft.
Anyone with information regarding the stolen Porsche is being asked to contact the Metropolitan Police Department.
