Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) argued Democrats have shown “they are unteachable” in light of the party’s failure to condemn acts of vandalism against Tesla properties. He added that their tactics are not addressing “any problems” the nation faces.
Cornyn’s assessment came as Attorney General Pam Bondi charged three people connected to vandalizing Tesla vehicles, charging stations, and dealerships. Bondi deemed the acts “domestic terrorism” and warned, “If you join this wave of domestic terrorism against Tesla properties, the Department of Justice will put you behind bars.”
The Texas senator urged Democratic lawmakers and their supporters to “work together” with Republicans over engaging in ways to stop such property destruction.
“Well, I think it demonstrates that they are unteachable, and certainly they didn’t learn anything from the election on November the 5th when their party and their platform was rejected by the American people,” Cornyn said on Fox News’s Faulkner Focus, guest-hosted by Julie Banderas. “So I would prefer that they would engage constructively and try to work together with us to try to solve some of these problems rather than just lose their mind and destroy an inanimate object like a Tesla automobile. That doesn’t solve any problems.”
The senator also criticized Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) for celebrating Tesla’s stock tanking and suggested one can see “why he lost the election” in 2024. Additionally, Cornyn was perplexed as to why “not everyone” is excited about President Donald Trump‘s “golden era” that he is working toward, as he would have thought everyone would be “very excited and optimistic” about it.
Cornyn expressed gratitude that the nation’s attorney general is working to stop the Tesla vandalism. He suspected that “maybe” seeing “the full weight of prosecution” unleashed on those engaging in vandalism would help.
Cornyn’s comments came as Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) urged opposition to Tesla during a “Tesla Takedown” livestream event last week. During the event, Crockett said she wants Tesla founder Elon Musk “taken down” for her birthday later this month.
THE CARBON FOOTPRINT OF A BURNING TESLA
Amid protests against Tesla and Musk, several supporters of the billionaire and his work with the Trump administration came out in force to counter the left-wing demonstrators shouting for a Tesla boycott at a dealership in Salt Lake City, Utah. The two protesting groups held nonviolent demonstrations that did not result in any damage to Tesla vehicles.
There is zero tolerance for acts of vandalism against Tesla. Spraying the words “nazi cars” or lighting fire to dealership and chargers is wrong. Period. All Democrats should condemn it. https://t.co/4VF6dgy3BV

Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) advocated earlier this month to stop the vandalism against Tesla and urged his fellow Democratic lawmakers to express “zero tolerance” for it.
