Hollywood actor Michael Stuhlbarg was assaulted by a man with a rock in New York City.
In a statement shared with multiple media outlets, the New York City Police Department reported that the 55-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by Xavier Israel, 27, who was quickly taken into custody. At around 7:45 p.m. on Sunday, Israel bashed Stuhlbarg over the back of the head with a rock, causing an abrasion. The actor then pursued the criminal, resulting in his arrest shortly thereafter.
Stuhlbarg reportedly declined medical assistance over the attack, which left bruising on the back of his neck, according to the New York Post.
Israel was reportedly on parole for robbery at the time of the attack. He committed two assaults in January 2022.
The homeless man was caught on camera in 2022 beating up and robbing a passerby who had given him his coat on a cold January day — just days after he had beaten up a 49-year-old woman who tried to help him, after which he was quickly released.
