Seven people were shot and killed in two homes in Joliet, Illinois, police said Monday as they conducted a manhunt for the suspect.
Joliet Police Chief Bill Evans announced in a midnight news conference that police found seven dead people in two separate houses across the street from each other. Romeo Nance, 23, was identified as the suspect.
“I’ve been a policeman 29 years; this is probably the worst crime scene I have ever been associated with,” Evans said.
The police chief added that Nance knew the victims in the two houses, who were all believed to be related. Five people were found dead in one, while the remaining two were in the other.
He was last seen driving a red Toyota Camry with an Illinois license plate with the number Q730412.
Nance is also believed to be connected to the fatal shooting of a Nigerian man on Sunday and a nonfatal shooting of another man 10 minutes earlier.

The suspect was out on bond after opening fire on a female motorist.
Nance is considered armed and dangerous.
