Vice President Kamala Harris will be sitting down with MSNBC anchor Stephanie Ruhle for her second solo interview since beginning her bid for the presidency on Thursday.
This will be Harris’s first one-on-one interview with a legacy media outlet, as her only other one was with Oprah Winfrey last week for a “Unite for America” rally in Michigan. During that event, Winfrey and audience members asked Harris various questions, but the whole purpose behind the event was to promote Harris’s candidacy.
Ruhle hosts MSNBC’s daily late evening show, The 11th Hour, which focuses on the issues and news driving the political conversation.
Just last Friday, Ruhle appeared on Bill Maher’s show, where she defended Harris’s choice to evade press interviews.
“There are some things you might not know her answer to, and in 2024, unlike in 2016 for a lot of the American people, we know exactly what Trump will do, who he is, and the kind of threat he is to democracy,” Ruhle said.
In response, guest Bret Stephens said that the voters “don’t know her answer to anything.”
Ruhle, who now has the opportunity to ask Harris difficult and important questions, asserted that Stephens’s request of Harris was unrealistic.
“When you move to nirvana, give me your real estate broker’s number, and I will be your door neighbor,” Ruhle said. “We don’t live there.”
Upon seeing Ruhle’s clip on Maher, former President Donald Trump took to TruthSocial to bash Maher and Ruhle.
“The ratings challenged Bill Maher, on his increasingly boring show on HBO, is really having a hard time coping with TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME,” Trump wrote. “He is a befuddled mess, sloppy and tired, and every conversation, with B and C list guests, seems to start with, or revert back to, ME!”
MSNBC has long been subjected to Trump’s accusation of perpetuating “fake news” and liberal talking points, with some of its biggest hosts being Rachel Maddow and former Biden administration press secretary Jen Psaki.

The only other interview Harris has done on a major news channel was with her running mate, Tim Walz. The pair sat down with CNN’s Dana Bash.
Meanwhile, Trump and Vance have sat down for a total of 26 national TV interviews.
