Vice President Kamala Harris will use the same aide Hillary Clinton did during her 2016 presidential campaign for her debate prep against former President Donald Trump: Philippe Reines.
Harris has been preparing for her Sept. 10 ABC debate against Trump at Howard University, her alma mater. She participated in a mock debate earlier this week.
Reines reportedly treats the role of Trump like that of a “method actor,” according to the New York Times.
He wears lifts to make himself appear taller and straps on kneepads to keep his legs straight and has ordered a custom-made oversized suit. A person reportedly saw Reines dressed as Trump, without a wig but with a long tie, on Monday. Reines has compared Trump’s presence onstage to a “malfunctioning appliance.”
Trump has brought in former Democratic Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard to impersonate Harris given her prior debate history with the vice president during the 2020 Democratic primaries.

Harris will reportedly aim to try to strike a contrast with Trump while getting across what she wants to say on the issues. She will reintroduce herself to voters unfamiliar with her record and will try to get her views across from immigration to inflation.
Harris will hope to come out of her first debate with Trump on better terms with the public than President Joe Biden did. Biden dropped out of the presidential race less than a month after his dismal performance.
