Exactly eight years after first daughter Ivanka Trump realized that Washington was a swamp of liberal criticism and hypocrisy, she appears to have completely cut ties to her past as the president’s all-around West Wing confidante.

“Pura vida,” she said in a new social media post, referring to the Costa Rican vibe of wellbeing, positivity, and gratitude.

After entering the White House in 2017, Trump built a broad portfolio mainly focused on helping women, especially on the international stage. But she found that politics stained what should have been a widely supported agenda.

At the time, she told the New York Times, “Suddenly, after my father declared his candidacy, it became that all the things that I was doing that I was praised for, the same people, the critics, viewed them through this different lens.”

And, she added, “Somehow, all the same things they applauded me for as a millennial, as a female entrepreneur, were now viewed very cynically as opportunistic.”

A constant and powerful force for her father in his first term, Trump has purposely gone in the other direction since leaving Washington, moving to Florida with her husband, Jared Kushner, and their children.

Instead of photos of her travels through the Middle East when she was a key emissary for President Donald Trump, she has filled her social media with family photos and those of her skiing, surfing, and practicing Jiu-Jitsu. She has also stepped up her volunteer work, notably in areas hit by natural disasters.

Over Passover and Easter week, her family traveled to Costa Rica where she apparently found “pura vida” far from the West Wing, posting photos of her surfing and writing about “logging off and tuning in.”

As if offering her journey to others to follow, Trump described her new life on X this way:

“This week was about reconnecting — with the Earth, with faith, and with one another. Logging off and tuning in. Grounding in nature’s rhythm. Feeling the sacred in the silence, in the laughter of my children, in the breath of the trees.

“My heart is full of gratitude for these moments of togetherness and renewal. Amid the peace and quiet, I also found space to reflect and plan for the upcoming launch of a few projects that I’m very excited to share with you soon!
