Former U.K. Prime Minister Liz Truss said she hopes for a second term for Donald Trump.

Truss appeared on Fox Business’s Varney and Co. on Friday, where she was asked if she was a “backer of Trump.” She was in office after Trump’s second term and about a year into President Joe Biden’s term.

“Yes. I think he needs to win,” Truss said. “And people can see that across the world, that the world felt safer when Trump was in office than it feels now.”

The former prime minister recently released a book, Ten Years to Save the West where she discusses how bureaucrats “captured by the left” have dictated societal culture. She expressed a need for politicians to alter the course of Western civilization.

“We need to seize back power for democratically elected politicians. We need conservative policies because that’s what was successful. That was successful in the 1980s when we took on the USSR,” Truss said. “We need that same confidence in the U.K. and the United States. We need that confidence in our values. We’ve got to stop the people who are undermining our countries and actually take on our adversaries overseas.”

Truss was in office for 44 days as former Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s successor. She resigned in 2022 and was replaced by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who has kept the office ever since.

Trump has nabbed the endorsement of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. The remaining world leaders have not endorsed either Trump or Biden ahead of the 2024 election.
