Fulton County prosecutor Fani Willis has lost the support of the public in her election racketeering case against former President Donald Trump, and many now believe that she should drop the charges.
In a survey that found an unusually high percent of the nation aware of and focused on the Georgia case against Trump and several co-defendants, most voters said that newly raised ethical charges against Willis and a fellow prosecutor suggest she is “compromised” and should back off.
In the Rasmussen Reports survey shared with Secrets, 49% said that the district attorney is compromised and the case against Trump “has to be dropped.” Some 41% disagreed.
The survey also tested a question about allegations that Willis hired a lover to handle much about the case against Trump, who has questioned the Fulton County 2020 vote count.
One of Trump’s co-defendants alleged in court documents that Willis has been romantically involved with Nathan Wade, assigned him to the case, and that he billed her office to take her on fancy vacations.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, special prosecutor Wade, a private attorney, has been paid roughly $654,000 in legal fees by Fulton County since January 2022.
