Nikki Haley has friends in left-leaning places.

The former South Carolina governor received 4,695 write-in votes in the New Hampshire Democratic primary, according to the New Hampshire secretary of state’s office, even though she is not seeking that party’s nomination.

While some might point to that as evidence Donald Trump is right to say her voters are mostly Democrats, the former president didn’t do so badly with them himself, picking up 2,055 write-in votes from registered Democrats in the Granite State.

“Ceasefire” was the third most popular write-in vote for New Hampshire Democrats, receiving 1,497 votes after a last-minute push for anti-Israel voters to write the word in as a protest vote. While organizers deemed the effort a success, it represented just 1.2% of the total votes cast in the state’s Democratic primary.

Highly unusual circumstances led to write-in votes vastly outnumbering those for people listed on the New Hampshire ballot on the Democratic side. President Joe Biden received 77,061 write-in votes to win the primary, while Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN), who campaigned heavily in the state, was listed on the ballot but came in a distant second with 23,997 votes.

On the Republican side, Biden also received the most write-in votes with 497, followed by Robert Kennedy Jr. with 203 votes, Phillips with 79, “ceasefire” with 34, self-help guru Marianne Williamson with 14, and longtime political prankster Vermin Supreme getting three votes.

Trump defeated Haley in the Republican primary on Tuesday night, 54% to 43%, and is hoping to force her out of the race before South Carolina GOPers take to the polls on Feb. 24.
