Former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson warned against the Republican National Committee footing the ever-increasing legal bills of Donald Trump.

Trump and his Trump Organization were ordered to pay more than $350 million in damages by Judge Arthur Engoron Friday as the result of the civil fraud lawsuit filed by New York Attorney General Letitia James. The former president will also have to pay interest on the amount. This is in addition to the $83 million payout Trump owes as a result of losing a defamation suit filed by author E. Jean Carroll.

“No one should be leader of RNC unless they pledge not to use its limited resources to pay legal fees and judgements of Donald Trump,” Hutchinson wrote.

Hutchinson was previously running against Trump in the Republican contest for the presidential nomination. Since dropping out of the race, he endorsed former U.N. Ambassador and sole remaining Trump challenger Nikki Haley, who offered a similar opinion.

“I don’t want the RNC to become his piggy bank for his personal court cases,” Haley said in an interview on CNN.

The former president was active on Truth Social, sharing several video clips of James, who repeatedly expressed her passion behind the suit in public settings. Following the ruling, James mocked Trump in a statement where she said he “perfected the art of the steal” in reference to Trump’s book Art of the Deal.
