Robert F Kennedy Jr. announced he is suspending his campaign and is pitching to former President Donald Trump an adviser position for chronic disease if the Republican nominee is elected president.
During his Friday address, Kennedy shared he no longer believed he had “a realistic path to electoral victory in the face of this relentless, systematic censorship and media control.”
“I want everyone to know that I am not terminating my campaign,” Kennedy said. “I am simply suspending it and not ending it. My name, my name will remain on the ballot in most states. If you live in a blue state, you can vote for me without harming or helping President Trump or Vice President Harris.”
After reports surfaced last week that Kennedy tried to meet with Harris for a Cabinet position, he shared that he could not support Harris due to her position on the war in Ukraine.
“President Trump says that he will reopen negotiations with President Putin and end the war overnight as soon as he becomes president,” Kennedy said. “This alone would justify my support for his campaign.”
And now Kennedy is hoping to find a place for himself in the Trump administration serving as an adviser on chronic disease, a topic he has become very passionate about for nearly 20 years.
“If I’m given the chance to fix the chronic disease crisis and reform our food production, I promise that within two years, we will watch chronic disease burden lift dramatically,” Kennedy said. “We will make Americans healthy again. Within four years, America will be a healthy country. We will be stronger, more resilient, more optimistic, and happier.”
His involvement in fighting against chronic disease stems from his work within the environmental movement in which he said he found that National Government Organizations and other institutions were turning a blind eye in protecting children against toxins. Kennedy said there were three issues pulling him into the race: chronic disease, the Ukraine war, and censorship.
“If President Trump is elected and honors his word, the vast burden of chronic disease that now demoralizes and bankrupts the country will disappear,” Kennedy said as he spoke about the issue for about 15 minutes of his 50-minute suspension speech.
Kennedy said Trump has been in contact with him ever since the failed assassination attempt to discuss concerns regarding chronic disease. They’ve shared a phone call and he met with Trump in Florida with his advisers for policy discussions.
“I was surprised to discover that we are aligned on many key issues,” Kennedy said. “In those meetings, he suggested that we join forces as a Unity Party. We talked about Abraham Lincoln’s Team of Rivals.”

One of the biggest chronic health issues Kennedy is concerned about is autism. During his speech, he says that 1-in-22 California children has autism. He also lamented over the cost of the crisis, saying most of government health spending is almost all for chronic disease, totaling $4.5 trillion, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In comparison, $2 trillion was dedicated to the total defense budget this year.
“Why are we allowing this to happen to our children?” Kennedy said. “These are the most precious assets that we have in this country. How can we let this happen to them?”
