President Donald Trump made D.J. Daniel, a 13-year-old boy who survived brain cancer, an honorary Secret Service agent.

Daniel has survived more than six years since doctors told him that he had five months to live.

“He has always dreamed of becoming a police officer,” Trump explained. “But in 2018, D.J. was diagnosed with brain cancer. The doctors gave him five months at most to live. That was more than six years ago. Since that time, D.J. and his dad have been on a quest to make his dream come true.”

“And tonight, D.J., we’re going to do you the biggest honor of them all,” he said, announcing that he asked Secret Service Director Sean Curran to make him an honorary agent.

Daniel looked stunned at the news before he was held up by his father. He then embraced Curran as those in the House chamber, including Democrats, cheered for him.

Many people in attendance chanted Daniel’s name in perhaps the most bipartisan moment of the night.

Social media reacted to the touching tribute, with popular commentator Nick Sortor describing it as a “beautiful moment.”

“God Bless D.J. Daniel,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt added.
