President-elect Donald Trump revealed several more appointments on Thursday to his incoming administration. As has been customary since winning the election, Trump made the announcements with a post on his Truth Social account.
The president-elect announced two ambassador positions: Benjamin Leon Jr. as the next U.S. ambassador to Spain and Joe Popolo as the next U.S. ambassador to the Netherlands.
Regarding his nominee for the ambassadorship to Spain, Trump praised Leon’s background and philanthropic endeavors.
“Benjamin is a highly successful entrepreneur, equestrian, and philanthropist,” Trump said in his post. “He came to the U.S. from Communist Cuba at 16-years-old, with only Five Dollars in his pocket, and proceeded to build his company, Leon Medical Centers, into an incredible business. He has helped support many worthy causes, like La Liga Contra el Cancer, and important Medical Research at Johns Hopkins and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.”
“Benjamin has also invested in training our future doctors and nurses by supporting Miami-Dade College’s Benjamin Leon Jr. School of Nursing, and the Benjamin Leon Center for Geriatric Research and Education at Florida International University’s Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine,” the president-elect added.
Trump also praised Popolo in a separate Truth Social post, highlighting his ambassador nominee’s successful business background and numerous charitable efforts.
“Joe is a successful businessman and philanthropist across many different sectors,” Trump said. “For over 20 years, he helped transform the Freeman Company into the World’s leading live event brand experience company. He currently serves as Founder and CEO of Charles & Potomac Capital, LLC, the Chairman of the Board of Pinnacle Live, LLC, and, as a Board Member of Ondas Holdings.”

“Joe is an E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year Award winner, and also a recipient of the Dallas Business Journal’s Most Admired CEO Award,” the president-elect added in his Truth Social post. “He is a proud graduate of Boston College, a member of their Board of Regents, and also, a Patron of the Arts in the Vatican Museum.”
Trump will begin his second term in office on Jan. 20, 2025. He is only the second president in the country’s history to be elected to two non-consecutive presidential terms. The other was President Grover Cleveland, the country’s 22nd and 24th president. Cleveland’s first term was from March 1885 to March 1889, and his second term was from March 1893 to March 1897.
