A campaign adviser to President-elect Donald Trump collapsed onstage during a speech at a Republican gala on Sunday night.
Alex Bruesewitz, CEO of consultancy firm X Strategies, social media personality, and Trump 2024 campaign adviser, spoke onstage at the 112th Annual New York Young Republicans Club Gala on Sunday night. He appeared fine at the beginning of his speech, speaking articulately without any signs of feeling unwell. Suddenly, he began to slur his words, mumble incoherently, and then collapsed.
“I’m forgetting my words,” Bruesewitz said before appearing dizzy and falling.
People in attendance rushed to Bruesewitz’s aid.
“Bruesewitz has been the driving force behind the efforts to defeat Republicans who fight against Trump and the MAGA movement and works to replace them with Republicans who fight for values we hold dear,” reads a statement on the X Strategies website.
Bruesewitz was listed as one of the gala’s honored guests for the event. This list included Bernie Kerik, former New York City police commissioner, Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL), Rep. Marc Molinaro (R-NY), Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN), and Jason Miller, a Trump campaign adviser, among many others.

Raheem Kassam, editor-in-chief of The National Pulse, emceed the gala. Promotional material for the event listed several people as honored speakers, including Nigel Farage, leader of the Brexit movement and a Member of the European Parliament; Dan Scavino, former White House Deputy Chief of Staff; and Steve Bannon, former White House chief strategist and senior counselor to Trump in 2017.
Bruesewitz was later reported to be recovering backstage and in good spirits. No official diagnosis or explanation was provided for his collapse.
