Alina Habba, the lawyer representing former President Donald Trump in his civil fraud case in New York, criticized the verdict Judge Arthur Engoron handed down Friday, claiming he will not “get away with it.”

Trump and his associates were found liable for committing decades of business fraud and ordered to pay about $364 million in penalties. After the verdict, Habba appeared on Fox News’s Hannity to maintain that her client did nothing wrong.

“I think the biggest message I can give the American people tonight is that [Engoron]’s not going to get away with it,” Habba said. “[New York Attorney General] Letitia James is not going to get away with it. The Biden administration is not going to get away with it.”

In a 92-page opinion, Engoron wrote that “the frauds found here leap off the page and shock the conscience,” adding that Trump and his associates’ “complete lack of contrition and remorse borders on pathological.”

James, who brought the lawsuit against the Trump Organization, sought $370 million in damages. While the amount was not quite that high, she praised the ruling in a statement.

“Donald Trump is finally facing accountability for his lying, cheating, and staggering fraud,” James said. “Because no matter how big, rich, or powerful you think you are, no one is above the law.”

Trump has vowed to appeal the decision, with the front-runner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination calling the case a “coordinated Election Interference Witch Hunt being directed by Crooked Joe Biden.”

Habba said she believes “in the end, we will succeed” because “the facts are on our side.”

“They will not get away with it,” Habba said. “We will come at them, we will come hard, and we will literally fight until the truth comes out. There was nothing wrong. President Trump has done nothing wrong.”
