President Donald Trump announced on Sunday night that Dan Bongino, a former Secret Service agent and a political commentator who hosts The Dan Bongino Show, will serve as deputy director of the FBI.
In a statement posted on Truth Social, Trump praised Bongino as “a man of incredible love and passion for our Country” and called the announcement “Great news for Law Enforcement and American Justice!”
The president pointed to Bongino’s service in the New York Police Department and the U.S. Secret Service, where he served for over a decade and was part of the protective details for former Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama.
Bongino, 50, also hosted the Saturday night Fox News show Unfiltered starting in 2021 and ending in 2023. After leaving the network, he launched his podcast, The Dan Bongino Show. In his statement, Trump called him “one of the most successful Podcasters in the Country.”
