According to a memo from the Office of Personnel Management, agencies are directed to put all DEI office staffers on paid leave by 5 p.m. on Wednesday. All DEI-related government web pages must be taken down by the same deadline.

Agencies must compile lists of all DEI offices and workers, then compile a list to execute a “reduction-in-force” against them. The memo warned that the administration was aware of efforts to “disguise” DEI programs using “coded or imprecise language.”

It also provided a template for the message to send out notifying staffers about the development.

“We are taking steps to close all agency DEIA offices and end all DEIA-related contracts in accordance with President Trump’s executive orders titled Ending Radical and Wasteful Government DEI Programs and Preferencing and Initial Rescissions of Harmful Executive Orders and Actions,” the template read.

“These programs divided Americans by race, wasted taxpayer dollars, and resulted in shameful discrimination,” it added.

It urged staffers to report on disguised agencies, warning that “failure to report this information within 10 days may result in adverse consequences.”

Trump had repeatedly promised on the campaign trail to end all DEI initiatives in government. His two executive orders referenced by the memo were signed during his first-day blitz.
