President Donald Trump took to social media Wednesday night to comment about the tragic plane crash in Washington, D.C., between a military helicopter and a commercial airliner. Dozens are feared dead from the accident.

Trump posted his thoughts on the collision between American Airlines Flight 5342 from Wichita, Kansas, and the Black Hawk Sikorsky H-60 helicopter on his Truth Social account.

“The airplane was on a perfect and routine line of approach to the airport,” Trump said in his post. “The helicopter was going straight at the airplane for an extended period of time.”

The crash happened at approximately 9 p.m. Eastern, the Washington Examiner previously reported. The accident is under investigation, and no cause has been provided yet. At the moment, the FBI has said there aren’t any indications of terrorism or suspicions of foul play.

The president asked several questions about the accident in his social media posts.

“It is a CLEAR NIGHT, the lights on the plane were blazing, why didn’t the helicopter go up or down, or turn,” Trump said. Why didn’t the control tower tell the helicopter what to do instead of asking if they saw the plane.”

Trump then speculated that the collision could have been avoided.

“This is a bad situation that looks like it should have been prevented. NOT GOOD!!!” Trump concluded in his post.

First responders and emergency crews have been deployed to conduct search and rescue operations. The National Transportation Security Board announced it sent a team to investigate the crash, according to reports.
