Former President Donald Trump predicted that there is a “100% chance of a major terror attack in the not-too-distant future” under President Joe Biden’s open border policies.

Trump said that “terrorists” who were crossing into the United States made U.S. prisoners look like “very nice people” and touted the success of his “travel ban,” which blocked people from specific countries from entering the country.

“Under Biden, millions of illegals are now pouring into our country, and these include terrorists,” Trump said during a speech at the National Rifle Association’s gathering in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on Friday. “You have a 100% chance of a major terror attack in the not-too-distant future. It’s a terrible thing to say. … Remember the travel ban? We didn’t take people from countries with the massive terrorism attacks. We don’t want our shopping centers blown up. We don’t want our people destroyed. We don’t want dead children where a family will never be the same.”

Trump claimed that under Biden’s leadership, U.S. cities have seen an increase in violent crime, including carjackings, shootings, and muggings.

“You take a look at your cities. Your cities are going to hell, you take a look at what’s going on,” Trump said. “They’re filthy dirty. They’re crime ridden. People walk down the street, they get shot, they get mugged. We’re really likely to face a 100% chance of a terrorist attack.”

Trump also warned that the border crisis will negatively affect largely Democratic voting blocs, such as the black, Latino, and Asian American communities.

The comment comes as the country witnesses unprecedented immigration along the U.S.’s southern border with Mexico. The majority of newcomers enter the country through Texas, Arizona, and California. Those who enter via Texas are largely shipped to sanctuary cities, such as New York, which has seen more than 150,000 asylum-seekers come in since spring of 2022.

Democratic cities have begged the federal government to provide more aid amid the crisis, but the White House claimed only Congress has the power to authorize more funding for the cities.

The comment also comes as lawmakers attempt to secure a border security bill, but recent negotiations have been unsuccessful. Recent attempts included a $14 billion request to add more agents along the border and more people to process and decide asylum claims, but border experts have claimed the crisis does not have a simple solution.
