President Donald Trump will attend this weekend’s NCAA wrestling championships at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
It will be Trump’s first visit to Philadelphia and Pennsylvania since he began his second term in January. He is also believed to be the first sitting president to ever attend the collegiate wrestling finals. Trump made history in February when he attended the Super Bowl 59 in New Orleans between the Kansas City Chiefs and, incidentally, the Philadelphia Eagles, becoming the first president to do so while in office.
Sen. Dave McCormick (R-PA), a former collegiate wrestler at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, will be joining the president at the event, according to reports.
Trump’s trip to Pennsylvania will be his first since he began his second term in January after winning the state in the 2024 presidential election. During his campaign, Trump spent a considerable amount of time in the Keystone State, holding rallies in numerous areas of Pennsylvania to ensure voter turn out. In one day in October, he famously served food at a McDonald’s in suburban Philadelphia, held a rally in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and attended a Sunday night NFL game in Pittsburgh.
Traditionally a state that has voted for the Democratic nominee for president, Trump also won the state in 2016. He was the first Republican candidate to win Pennsylvania in a presidential election since then-Vice President George H.W. Bush did so in 1988.

Trump appears to be a strong supporter of NCAA wrestling. It is the second time he has attended the championships since 2023, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported. He has also been regularly seen attending Ultimate Fighting Championship events, a mixed martial arts league that is rooted in grappling sports such as wrestling.
He is also an ardent sports fan, attending multiple major sporting events recently in addition to the Super Bowl, including the Daytona 500.
