People are researching specific topics concerning the 2024 elections as former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden gear up for the first presidential debate this week.
Google Trends has unveiled a real-time tracker that examines the issues people are searching for on the internet. On Wednesday afternoon, wages, healthcare, crime, unemployment, and the Supreme Court topped internet-wide searches.
A collaboration between the Associated Press and Google Trends has produced a similar tool that determines which election issues people are searching for on Google. The tracker shows that the top 10 searched are crime, Social Security, healthcare, unemployment, immigration, the economy, minimum wage, abortion, race, and LGBT.

In the last 10 days, the tracker shows that interest in the economy, abortion, and LGBT issues has dipped, while searches about immigration, minimum wage, and race have increased.
Trump is expected to address several of those matters during Thursday’s debate, targeting Biden over illegal immigration and economic concerns about wages and inflation. Abortion has been a top issue for the Biden campaign, making it likely the president will focus his energy there in addition to accusing Trump of being a danger to democracy.
