Dirty Jobs star Mike Rowe called on President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump to detail how they would fix inflation during the CNN presidential debate.
“Just explain how inflation is going to be put under control,” the Mike Rowe Works Foundation CEO told Fox News host Jesse Watters.
“That’s what the people I know are desperate to hear — a rational, cogent plan from a seemingly rational and cogent human. It’s not too much to ask,” he continued.

Rowe explained that there has been a “longtime” disconnect between public officials making economic decisions and what people are experiencing in America. He said he hopes the inflation discussion will “be a part of what happens at this debate Thursday night.”
“When I talk about disconnects and dirty jobs, it’s all about reacquainting people about where their food comes from and where their energy comes from,” Rowe said, adding, “And who the people are who provide those things.”
The television host said that “a big part of being in charge and of leading is at least maintaining the appearance of relatability.”
During an interview on Monday with Yahoo Finance’s Jennifer Schonberger, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen shot down a question about skyrocketing prices at grocery stores.
“It’s sticker shock, isn’t it? Just when you look at shipping costs, those have come down, global food commodity prices have also come down, but food prices still remain high. Should the U.S. invest in agriculture to boost the food supply in this country?” Schonberger asked.
“No,” Yellen said. “I think largely it reflects cost increases, including labor cost increases that grocery firms have experienced, although there may be some increases in margins.”
The treasury secretary was criticized for her response.
Rowe told Watters that if you don’t know what a gallon of milk costs, then “it’s a tough sell” in being relatable.
Watters said Biden would never get “quizzed” on how much a gallon of milk costs.
“I don’t know if this debate is going to help anything or if we’re going to learn anything. Everything is style and performance. Everything is going to be rehearsed and managed. I just want to know what these guys stand for,” he said.

Rowe also previewed his new documentary film, Something to Stand For, which will hit theaters across the nation starting Thursday. The movie follows Rowe as he takes an adventure to Washington, D.C., exploring American history by telling stories about the American Revolution, World War II, and the Civil Rights Movement while harrowing historical stories about the patriots who built America.
