Fans of Candace Cameron Bure will not have to wait long to watch her latest film, as she will launch a new mystery series on May 6.
The movie will be the first film in the Ainsley McGregor Mysteries series, which will be available exclusively on the Great American Family network. Bill Abbott, the network’s president and CEO, revealed the projected release date to the Washington Examiner, adding it’s one of several projects Bure has worked on since leaving the Hallmark Channel in 2022.
“Candace is not only an incredibly talented actress, she’s also a great executive producer and executive really within our organization,” Abbott told the Washington Examiner. “And she has such a strong vision for content, not only in the romcom side or in the sitcom side, but in the mystery side, as she proved with her Aurora Teagarden series, I think had 19 movies and was highly successful.”
The Aurora Teagarden film series had been a film franchise Bure had starred in on the Hallmark channel and was based on the book series of the same name written by Charlaine Harris. Bure’s new film franchise is similarly based on a book franchise, the Ainsley McGregor Mysteries, which was written by Candace Havens.
In discussing Bure’s production on this new series, Abbott praised her for being able to create mysteries, as they are “very different” from rom-com films.
“They need a lot of attention to specific detail, and the story arcs are very different from rom-coms,” Abbott said. “It’s really quite amazing that Candace has not only mastered this in terms of her acting, how efficient she is as a lead in these movies, but the architect of it to is quite impressive, and we could not be happier to have the honor and privilege of working with her.”

Great American Family has made a name for itself as a conservative alternative to other movie channels like Hallmark and has grown rapidly among viewers in the last few years. Beyond this new movie franchise, Bure has also worked on the network’s output of Christmas films.
In February, Great American Family also inked a multiyear deal with actor and Access Hollywood host Mario Lopez, which will include the 2024 Christmas film My Grown-Up Christmas Wish. The film will star Lopez and his wife, Broadway actress Courtney Lopez.
