Two Hallmark actors will star in a new film from Great American Pure Flix, which has gradually increased its number of Hallmark actors in its portfolio.
The new film, Mr. Manhattan, will star real-life couple Carlos and Alexa PenaVega, and is scheduled to release on May 24. The release of the new film comes as Great American Media, the owner of Great American Pure Flix, has made a name for itself as a conservative alternative to the Hallmark Channel.
“Carlos and Alexa are audience favorites and beloved for their commitment to family on and off the screen, which is the foundation of Mr. Manhattan,” read a statement from Great American Family President and CEO Bill Abbott. “And we are excited about a number of additional projects in development with these two enormously talented actors.”
The plot of the film details a man, played by Carlos, who vows to be godfather to the children of his brother and sister-in-law. Ten years later, his relatives are killed in a car crash, leaving him to raise their two children.
The couple shared the announcement of their new film on social media, expressing their excitement for its release. Both actors have starred in a variety of Hallmark films.

The announcement of Mr. Manhattan, starring the PenaVega couple, comes two years after Candace Cameron Bure left Hallmark for Great American Media. Bure has since starred in a variety of Christmas films for the network and is set to debut a new mystery film series on the network later this year.
Great American Media has also inked a multiyear deal with actor and Access Hollywood host Mario Lopez, which will include the 2024 Christmas film My Grown-Up Christmas Wish. The film will star Lopez and his wife, Broadway actress Courtney Lopez.
